1-DAY Psychological First Aid

Psychological First-aid is a training program that equips you to provide appropriate support to those in need after a community disaster such as a cyclone, flood, bush fire or a traumatic event.

What You Will Learn

How to respond to someone experiencing trauma

How to communicate and listen

How to help calm and support someone in the face of disaster

How to link to further professional help when needed

How to help the survivors feel less overwhelmed and able to cope

How to help reduce the initial distress

How to encourage short and long term adaptive functioning

How to take care of yourself

Crisis support workers, volunteers, and members of the community

Those assisting and or supporting those affected by a traumatic event

Community members who may wish to provide assistance during a crisis
